‘Home is where the heart is’ explores New Zealand’s environmentalist and their homes. The series evolved whilst spending a year travelling and working in New Zealand, during which time I took part in the WWOOF scheme (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and worked for Greenpeace NZ.

New Zealand is a country that has a reputation for caring about environmental issues. In 1984 through public pressure and protest from NGO’s such as ‘Greenpeace’ and ‘Friends of the Earth’ a ban on nuclear powered or nuclear armed ships from using New Zealand ports or entering New Zealand waters was put in place.

Many of the people I met and stayed with during my time in New Zealand where passionate about environmental issues and were living a very self sufficient lifestyle creating their own power from solar or wind, growing their own food or living in low impact dwellings.
